all good things...

last day of the xanga revival. i have to admit, it's been fun. the interaction, while limited to fewer friends, is certainly more engaging than facebook. i guess i'm getting tired of facebook. sure, there are some fun applications (and plenty of lame ones), but i think i've been too liberal in adding friends and now i'm too conscientious about what i post on my profile. as if i really need to befriend people i went to high school with and haven't seen or talked to since then. or parents of friends. still, it is nice to be able to stay in touch with those friends who never got on the xanga bandwagon. but i digress.

the thing i liked about xanga was the level of interaction. routinely checking in and commenting on other friends' blogs and keeping them abreast with my own blog (even if 90% of the stuff i wrote about was irrelevant). the problem is, after so long there's only so much left to say. even now, i'm only good for a few blogs a month so this week has been a bit of a trial for me. the one thing i didn't like about xanga was how open to the public your blog could be. yes, i know, it's the world wide web and that's what it's supposed to do. but i guess the paranoid in me was always a little worried about who was actually reading my blog that i didn't know about. still, it was fun. but all good things must come to an end. i now return to my irregularly scheduled blog. see you later xanga world!

randomness

  • went and saw public enemies last night. i've already reviewed it on my facebook profile, so i'll skip the review here. suffice it to say, it was a good film but you can wait to rent it.
  • met up with a friend after the movie and split a bottle of black. as you can guess, it was a slow morning...
  • dinner plans tonight. third night in a row i'll be going out. busy weekend ahead of me. i just want to hibernate.
  • why does xanga want to connect me to facebook after i publish a new entry?
  • can't think of anything else so i'll stop here.

LeBron is no MVP

looks like lebron's a real class act. first he walks off the court without congratulating the magic after being eliminated from the playoffs, now he's confiscating video of him being dunked on. you can read the article here. i used to be okay with the idea of cleveland winning a championship since they were such a doormat to the bulls in the past, but after this season i no longer feel that way.

happy hump day!

i love wednesdays. not. i get to spend my mornings stuck in meetings until noon, but at least once i've gotten through them half the day is done. too bad my brain is fried by then too.

i had dinner last night at veerasway. it was pretty good, although you'll find better indian food on devon ave. still, despite the chintzy atmosphere the food was decent. one of my problems with the place is that they don't butter their naan, they use olive oil. so you're better off getting one of the flavored ones. our group ordered the chicken tikka masala, lamb rogan josh, spring mutter paneer and a scallop dish that was the special of the night - all good. they have some tasty cocktails there as well. a couple of friends ordered the bollywood rehab and the veeralassi, both of which are recommended. for dessert we ordered one spiced fudge brownie and one coconut sorbet. the sorbet was really good and the borwnie was good too, as long as you don't mind the spicy crunch to it.

all in all, it was a decent dining experience. it's a little overpriced, but if you find yourself in the west loop with a hunger for some indian food and don't feel like making a trip to devon then it'll do.

hmm...

what to say, what to say... i'm normally only good for a few blogs a month, so i don't know how i'm going to fill up a week. i guess i can share a few blogs that i like to follow. i discovered this one while listening to the sports guy's podcast, the b.s. report. it's a funny blog about one guy's experiences as a backup on the ohio state basketball team. i also follow olivia munn's blog regularly, because i find her funny and good-looking. plus, i really enjoy her show, attack of the show. too bad i don't get the G4 channel as part of my satellite service, but that's what hulu's for.

for those of you who use gmail, i recommend using google reader. it makes it easy to subscribe to and follow your favorite blogs.

on another note, what's up with this magic jack? is it legit?
